| While it has already been expressed in the curriculum standards, it has become a forgotten corner in practical language teaching. From the great writings to small journals, they are mostly about how to teach reading and writing, and it was rarely mentioned about the school assignment of language and literature in senior grades of elementary school. As a means of alleviating the heavy academic burdens on students, the school assignment of language and literature is an important component of full implementation of the requirements of quality education, which is also the strong desire of the broad masses of students and parents, as well as the issues of common concern. Only from the traditional teaching theoretical vision, it would be very difficult to find a meaningful point of breakthrough for the school assignment, and it may hinder the improvement of the quality of the language and literature to a certain extent.This paper is divided into six chapters.In chapter1, the writer selects targets from the relevant elements of teachers students and the needs of the community (parents) to survey teachers, students and parents. From the survey, it can be seen that the burden of work are still "too heavy" which is really needed to be reduced. We can not simply think that to reduce the burden of work is to remove the burden. In fact, reasonable and proper burden of work is not only deserved, but also necessary. Now it is high time to find the path leading to the reasonable and adequate shortcut.In chapter2, according to the theory of education time, curriculum standards of native languages in all countries, curriculum evaluation of native language and school assignment of teaching material, the writer explores the direction and current status of school assignment in foreign countries, from which the writer gets some useful insights for the design of school assignments of language and literature of senior grades students in elementary school.In chapter3, it is about theoretical thinking of practical problems of school assignments. Basing on multiple intelligence theory, schema theory, constructive theory and learning stages, the writer explains that the anticipatory purposes of school assignments of language and literature of senior grades students in elementary school are to consolidate the knowledge, to cultivate capacity and to develop individuality.Chapter4 and chapter5 is the key part of the thesis. Integrating the research data of foreign countries, the writer further explains the model of "three-phase, four-type". As for "three-phase", that is before school assignment, school assignment, and after school assignment. During each phase, teachers assume different responsibilities and play different roles.
