A new round of curriculum reform which carry on more than ten years has brought many concepts and strategies of learning. As a rising star, the assignment of previews which are guided by the methodology of "do first, learn settle teach" are gradually getting the attention of people. Past researches of preview’s assignments in geography are less; otherwise the existing researches are short of the study that how to design the preview’s assignments in geography, and the standards of design type of the preview’s assignments in geography are not unified, then guidances are not brillian.Aiming at solving the shortcomings of the previous researches, this study made the design of preview’s assignments in geography at high school as the research object, with the support of constructivism, humanism, conception of based-on-student and theory of curriculum and teaching in geography, author analyses the connotation and conceptions which related of preview’s assignments in geography deeply, then author discusses the design of preview’s assignments in geography at high school from the principle of design, the thinking of design, the cases of design, and put forward to the idea that according to type of knowledge which include the declarative knowledge, the procedural knowledge and the strategic knowledge to design the geographical assignment of previews at high school, which are highly maneuverability. Furthermore, author chooses two classes of a middle school in Hubei province to carry on experiment research, supplemented by questionnaire survey and method of action research, then try to testify the methods of design are reasonable or not and study the effects of preview’s assignments in geography on student’s study via collecting and analysising of the information of students’ the preview’s assignments in geography and academic achievements.Studies have shown that the preview’s assignments in geography which let students " do first, learn first" can arouse students’ interest in learning geography, cultivate the students’ ability of learning, to make the students clearly the emphasis and difficulty in classroom learning, and realize the significance of geography learning;Also it makes the purpose and the directivity of geography teachers’ teaching are more clear, which can improve the teaching efficiency, rich the connotation of classroom, and inspired the professional development needs for geography teachers.
