Chinese teaching activity is a course in which the teachers convey information and communicate with the students in order to reach the teaching goals by the means of language behaviors and non-language behaviors. In the course of Chinese teaching, the teachers' non-language behaviors have the following features: the images in presenting ways, the vagueness in information's conveying implications, the flexibility in formation's conveying forms, the supplementary character in information's conveying actions and continuity in information's conveying time.According to the differences and similarities among different kinds of non-language behaviors, the non-language behaviors in Chinese teaching can be classified into the following four kinds: posture-language, paraposture-language, paralanguage and time and space language. They have the functions as follows: First, the teachers' non-language behaviors can help improve the language expressions in Chinese teaching and expand the capacity of the information. Second, they can help adjust the teaching rhythms and then promote the management in class. Third, they can promote the emotion interchange between teachers and students to improve classroom instructions' effects. Finally, they can help teachers set an elegant example in education to improve the makings of students.When the teachers use the non-language behaviors in teaching, it's better to follow these rules: kindness and respect, control in degree, coordination and consistence, finest cooperation.In this article, I lay an emphasis on studying the skills of making use of the non-language behaviors in Chinese teaching including expressions, signs, postures, pauses and distances. On the basis of analyzing the problems that exist in the course of using the non-language behaviors, I put forward some efficient ways of improving the ability in making use of the non-language behaviors and I hope this paper can bring you something useful and helpful for reference.
