Function is one of the most important mathematical thoughts in junior school . It is also an effective mathematical model to deal with the practical problems. Inquiring is an important learning style ,which has been greatly promoted by mathematical curriculum standard. Yet current study and research in this aspect belongs to pure theories and experience, practical research few. The present thesis , by means of literature analysis and questionnaire, discusses the theory of mathematical inquiring teaching as well as some experiments. Based on these, some suggestions are put forward on the function inquiring teaching in junior high school in terms of the school evaluation, the teacher ability development and treating students properly.The thesis is made up of five parts.Part One, raise the question. The knowledge on mathematics is from researching. The students, who want to learn mathematics well, had better learn mathematics by means of observing ,operating, guessing, validating and experiment. It will promote all - round development of the students .Part Two, theoretical analysis of mathematical inquiring teaching. By looking back on the history of the formation and development of inquiring teaching, the author demonstrates the features, styles, strategies, models, operations and principles. All helps the thesis a lot.Part Three, the basic theory, concept definition and educational values.
