In the new curriculum reform of chemistry in China, a new education concept based on changing learning styles to foster science literacy is established. In the past, it was not considered essential that all students learn rigorous content. However, the new curriculum content and teaching strategies ask that students not only master factual knowledge but also learn to apply that knowledge by reasoning and solving novel problems in today's information age. To prepare students for this new environment, it's essential that educators should encourage students to learn in exploration while obtaining knowledge and skills in chemistry. The scientific inquiry is an important practice activity and an essential learning mode. It's the major content in chemistry curriculum standards in senior secondary school. By discussing the essences of the curriculum, the basis integrated curriculum setting in instruction structure and teaching methods, this article points out how to put inquiring learning and teaching in practice.First of all, we should develop students' curiosity and interest in science and advance their ability to inquire and solve problems. The reform emphasizes students are the master of learning, so the students are supposed to make their own version of learning. They should acquire basic scientific knowledge and concepts for living in and contributing to a scientific and technological world and attain personal growth through reflection - strategy studying science. The inquiry-based nature of the scientific process draws on students' abilities to successfully participate in hands-on experiments, observe phenomena, discuss findings, and draw conclusions.Secondly, the instructors should improve their professional mind through study while carrying out the quality education. They should engage in research on better ways for students' learning. They are being asked to participate in a major curriculum reform by the new curriculum idea .They are supposed to reform teaching method, cultivate students' innovative and exploring ability.Thirdly, curriculum materials are most important resources to promote an interest in science among students. Instructors can benefit from these quality products, which include children's textbooks, activity books, innovative texts, magazines, curriculum guidelines, and professional development workshops. Instructors should choose the most featured teaching materials to motivate students' interest in science inquiring.Fourthly, valuation can't be ignored in chemistry teaching in middle school. Educators should not evaluate a pupil's learning and growing by a simple exam but should establish various valuation systems to examine students' learning and development. Instructors should pay more attention to process assessment to stimulate the students to make progress in all ways and construct their interest of important scientific concepts. Finally, in order to advance pupils' science literacy, students are supposed to study not only in classroom but also out of classroom. They should be either prepared for further studies or enter careers in scientific and technological fields. However, literacy has a critical role to play in middle-grades science learning, even when the curriculum is inquiry-based and hands-on. In a word, we should create chemistry inquiring learning surroundings to enable students study all their lives.
