Research Into The Relationship Among Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy, Achievement Motivation And Psychological Health Of The Students Receiving Advanced Vocational Education In Nantong District

Career decision-making self-efficacy(CDMSE) which provides a new visual angle for career guidance,has been widely discussed in the world,but it is rarely mentioned in China.What's more,the career decision-making self-efficacy of Chinese advanced vocationai college students remains untouched.However, with the rapid development of advanced vocational education,the topic employment of the students receiving advanced vocational training comes into the focus of attention.With regard to this,this research,which based on the exploration of predecessors and Bandura's theory of self-efficacy will analyse the fundamental characteristics of CDMSE of advanced vocational college students and the differences in sexes,majors and grades.By exploring the influence of achievement motivation and psychological health on CDMSE ,this paper tries to probe into some psychological factors affecting CDMSE of advanced vocational college students ,and to provide them with new theoretical approaches and reasonable suggestions of career guidance.This paper ,by adopting Symptom Check List-90 ,Achievement-Motivation Scale and CDMSE-Short Form which drawn up by Betz and Taylor and revised by Long Yanmei ,conducts a survey of 304 students receiving advanced vocational education .Among them,there are 126 boys,178 girls ;90 freshmen,95 sophomores,78 juniors and 41 seniors;ll4 students of liberal arts,107 students of science and 83 students of fine arts .After thorough investigation ,the conclusions can be drawn as follows:â…°)The students receiving advanced vocational education have their own CDMSE ,and it differs in sexes,majors and grades .Boys'CDMSE is higher than girls',which reflects that boys can collect more employment information .Concerning grades ,sophomores'CDMSE is the highest ,freshmen's ranks the lowest ,and juniors' and seniors' are in the middle .Meanwhile,students' CDMSE also differs in majors .Students of liberal arts have lower CDMSE than those of science and fine arts ,but they can solve problems more efficiently than the other two groups do.â…±)The achievement motivation of advanced vocational college students also differs in sexes ,grades and majors .Boys' achievement motivation is stronger than girls';sophomores' get the highest mark in achievement motivation ,and what's more,they don't dodge difficulties so often as the others do;freshmen's is the weakest .Compared the students of science with those of arts ,it can be drawn that the former have stronger achievement motivation than the latter ,and they also pursue success more eagerly than the latter ;but on the contrary ,the latter are more afraid of failure than the former.â…²)The psychological health of advanced vocational college students is worse than that of average college or university students in China in interpersonal sensitivity and photic anxiety factors ;but in paranoid ideation factor,the former is better than the latter.And it also differs greatly in grades:freshmen and sophomores are more healthier than juniors and seniors in psychology ,such as somatization,depression,anxiety and photic anxiety ;students of liberal arts are more healthier than others ,and students of arts have higher marks than the other two in most factors .However, there is no striking difference between students of science and those of liberal arts except that the former get higher marks in photic anxiety factor than the latter do.â…³)There is remarkable correlation among CDMSE,achievement motivation and psychological health in advanced vocational students .Their motive for success and achievement motivation positively correlate with their CDMSE ,but their motive for avoiding failure negatively correlates with CDMSE .And there is notable negative correlation between psychological health and CDMSE.â…´)The analysis of regression shows that ,to advanced vocational college students ,achievement motivation,motive for pursuing success and for avoiding failure can predicate their CDMSE precisely ;Depression ,interpersonan sensitivity and psychoticism may ,to some extent ,predict CDMSE ,but other factors of SCL-90 do not have such effect.
