Cooperative learning is not only a kind of creative and effective teaching theory and strategy but also an important learning style for students. It is an essential part of the Curriculum Criterion for biology in senior high school. At present, the study of cooperative learning in the high school biology teaching is very insufficient, which makes it impossible for cooperative learning to fully display its glamour . The author hereby take up the research topic in the hope of exploring the effective implementation of cooperative learning in the teaching of biology in high school.In the study , the author will annotate the truth of cooperative learning and hold the view that cooperative learning should be carried out based on the characteristics of students and conform to the following principles: grouping according to individual learner differences, positive mutual dependence, individual liability, communicative skills and self-assessment in groups so as to create methods suitable for the field practice of cooperative learning. Cooperative learning has such qualities as subjectivity, mutual promotion, interdependence and interaction. Therefore, when implementing cooperative learning , we should follow the principles of mutual confidence, teaching division, competition, embarking from personality and free choices and ,at the same time ,we should have a definite teaching goal ,share teaching resources, get along well with one another and give the students sufficient time to guarantee the smooth implementation of cooperative learning .The author hascarried out a one-year teaching practice of cooperative learning according to the following aspects, that is, the scientific organizing structure, the best opportunities, the choosing of teaching content, the cultivating of cooperative and communicative skills, the role of teachers, and the focus and ways of evaluation.The teaching practice indicates: the implementation of cooperative learning contributes to developing students' ability of obtaining biology information through diverse channels, fully displaying their subjective initiative , raising their interest in learning biology. It's also of great help in the carrying out of all-around development in biology classroom teaching, developing students' cooperative ability, building up harmonious relationship and cultivating their collective consciousness, establishing new relationship and equal dialogue and communication between teachers and students . What's more, it manifests the democracy of teaching practice and enhances learners' attention to teaching methods.
