With the processing of the New Curriculum Reform in our country, the approaches of teaching and learning have been greatly changing. Independent learning is the main topics of modern education study, and is obtained more and more attention as the goal of the New Curriculum Reform. Being a kind of ability, independent learning could not only help improve the students' study, but also be good base for the students' life-long learning and development. Teachers should dedicate themselves to train the students independent learning ability, so that they could match up with the times.This essay will study on how to develop the ability of the students' independent learning in the practice of history teaching of senior school, pose the basic strategy to foster the students' learning ability, try to use different teaching methods to do experiments in new course and refresher course, In new course encouraging the students to learn initiatively; in refresher course guiding the students to sum the outline of review, in this way to train the students' independent learning ability.In my study to foster the ability of the students' independent learning, we should to set up the evaluation system of it. On the base of analyzing of class teaching, the evaluation system should cover the students' achievement, interesting, motive habits and method. The average score of the students' independent learning ability of the experiment class is 7.776 higher then that of the common class.The results of the study showed, we carry out training the students' independent learning in history teaching of senior school, which could not only improve students' ability of independent learning, but also help them to realize lifelong learning and sustainable development.
