As one of the most important Physical Education courses, basketball has always been very popular among students in Higher Vocational Education Institutes. However for many years, our Basketball Class has always taken skill and capacity as its dominance, thus put attention to the unity and standardization of teaching form, structure, content, method, estimate and so on.In the new turn of curriculum reforms, Physical Education has paid much attention to the student-center that involves every tache ranging from design to estimate, and always holds students'subjective and comprehensive development as the center. At the same time as we intentionally develop teachers'dominant function in didactical activities, students'subjective status has been specially emphasized in order to exert their activeness, mobilize their latent energy and improve their studying ability.Basketball is a team game, and its characteristic of collectiveness can make people who take part in it establish harmonious cooperation with others, polish their cooperative spirit and cultivate their quality of pertinacity and self-confidence. Its unrepeated combined skill exercises people's innovative ideology and ability. Basketball's characteristics of participation, cooperation, respect to difference and experience of success can most manifest the direction of modern sport's curriculum reform. Most importantly, the basketball's teaching object has subjective desire and qualification of independent study. Therefore conditions, such as student's age, study motive, intelligence level, and learning experience, can indicate that it will be an inevitable trend for Higher Vocational Education Institutes to implement the teaching characteristic of student-center in basketball class.This report has proposed the subject that Higher Vocational Education Institutes'basketball class will implement the teaching characteristic of student-center, which takes Physical Education's student-center as the main way to observe basketball class's teaching target, content and estimate.This research believes that, the teaching method of student-center must find the union spot between subjectiveness and education, which means fully respecting and developing educatee's subjectiveness and cultivating people with this characteristic. Thus we can make students actively and voluntarily attend basketball activity, which is the ultimate target of student-center reform. From what has been discussed, we can come to the conclusions as follows:1. The basketball teaching in Higher Vocational Education Institutes should transform didactical concept from agonistic basketball to student-center.2. The basketball teaching target should satisfy the students'requirement of keeping fit and recreation promote their own tactical level through the basketball teaching, and help them truly learn useful basketball knowledge.3. Basketball course's content should embark from the students'actual situation, through which the students can understand and appreciate the basketball. And students can also grasp basketball's basic tactic skills and rules and learn related medical care knowledge. By different forms of competition, students strengthen their consciousness of coordination and exchange and sharpen the social adaptiveness.4. Basketball's teaching estimate in Higher Vocational Education Institutes should manifest student-center participation.
