Aiming at the problems and deficiencies of the theoretical and practical study on forgiveness, the dissertation systemically describes the connotation, psychological mechanism, and influential factors of forgiveness, and theoretically discusses moral functions of forgiveness. On the basis of that, the dissertation associating with practice on the moral education, displays the value of forgiveness in moral education at school from the three aspects: necessity, feasibility and main methods on carrying out forgiveness education, and puts forwards the related referential suggestions as to forgiveness education at school.First, the dissertation analyzes the connotation of forgiveness, which deems that forgiveness has the characteristics of self-attention, being-condition, process-dynamic and approaching-society, and forgiveness is the production of mutual action among individual cognition, emotion and action. Based on that, the connotation of forgiveness is the psychological process of individual, whose emotion, cognition and action with the inventor or the injurer gradually turns negative to positive, and forgives the inventor or the injurer while suffering unfair hurt. Moreover, the dissertation describes the three mechanisms of forgiveness: observance learning, role selection, and cognitive imbalance. Observance learning is the most primary psychological mechanism in the psychological mechanisms of forgiveness, and individual endures the process from simple observance learning to comprehension observance learning. Role selection is the most foundational psychological mechanism, and cognitive imbalance is the motivational mechanism. Associating with current research and Chinese culture, the dissertation draws the influential factors are vary, which include subject factor of forgiveness, object factor of forgiveness, and subject-object factor of forgiveness, and social environmental factor. Among them, subject factor of forgiveness is the important factor, and individual empathy is the key factor, and personality related to Chinese culture is the foundational factor. Though the rest factors are not important, they influence the speed and extent of forgiveness occurring. The influence and action among each factor initiates forgiveness occurring. Furthermore, the dissertation deeply discourses the two moral functions of forgiveness in allusion to the deficiencies of current study on moral functions of forgiveness. In the moral education at school, the shortage of forgiveness education provides possibility for carrying out the necessity of forgiveness education, students' psychological and physical foundation, and social culture. On the basis of that, the dissertation brings forward two suggestions for current forgiveness education: the one is to build up moral cognition of forgiveness, and to enforce and strengthen forgiveness consciousness in commanding random moral situation; the other is to create suitable moral situation so as to make the educated experience active moral feeling.
