In recent years, many higher education reseachers have paid much more attention to the issues of university governance in China, which become a focus to university.The change of university governance structure is an important constraint of university governance. Therefore, on the view of institutional change theory of new institutional economics, the author advances of imposed institutional change and induced institutional change in China. Meanwhile, on the basis of analyzing historical evolution and characteristics of the change of the university governance structure, the author poses the impact of difficult position on university governance structure in China, and makes a description of outlook to the change of university governance structure.The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, which elaborates research basis, objects and methods, and advances its theoretical and realistic significance of this research. In the second chapter, the author mentions the theoretical basis of change of university governance structure on the view of new institutional economics. Definiting institution etc. firstly,the author forms two transformations: imposed institutional change and induced institutional change. Analyzing advantages and disadvantages and their relations of two changes, the author poses that the way to the change will influence university governance structure. In the third chapter, the author describes the way of university governance structure from 1949, and makes an analysis of its characteristics. In the fourth chapter, on the basis of analyzing difficult position to which imposed institutional change and induced institutional change are facing, the author forms a "triangle framework of university governance"--subject, object and mechanism of university governance and analyses its low-effect. In the fifth chapter, the author makes a future scheme of university change in China. And then makes a conclusion at the end of the thesis.The author forms some ideas through this study. First, change way will affect university governance structure. Second, change of Chinese university governance structure has experienced two stages and four periods: stage of imposed institutional change, and its periods of establishment and confusion; stage of co-existence of imposed institutional change and induced institutional change. And this stage has been divided into two periods, periods of re-built and development of university governance structure. Third, obstruction that change of Chinese university governance structure is facing to. At last, the author poses three tendencies of change of university governance structure in China: To develop principal role of imposed institutional change continually; To construct reasonable system environment for induced institutional change, and then to accomplish change of induced institutional change from imposed institutional change at the right moment.
