The basis for the research topic put forward is based on the teaching aim in the Senior Middle School to cultivate the students' oral English communicative competence. The English teaching in China has been greatly improved since the Reform and Opening-up Policy was carried out. Students' language abilities, including listening, reading and writing, have fundamentally been enhanced. However most students are not yet interested in the spoken language because of the influence of some traditional and cultural ideas, the concepts of education, the methods of teaching and pressure of persuing a high percentage of students' entrance into colleges in the past years. Therefore, the teachers and students pay more attention to reading, neglecting listening and speaking so that the students are weak at accuracy and fluency of speaking English.Since China's entry into WTO in 2001, the need of English in domestic market is rapidly increasing, and meanwhile more and more Chinese people realize that it is a very urgent task to learn English well so as to meet the needs and challenges of the society. Cultivating students' ability of expressing themslves in English in social communication is not only the need of our times, but also the demand of educational reforms and the requirement of the students' survival and development. It is the key period in the stage of middle school to cultivate the students' ability of spoken language in social communication so the teachers should follow the teaching and educational rules to make every effort to improve students' full abilities, especialy oral communicative competence.The text comes from my thinking and practice in teaching. Ways of material analysis, experience in teaching and individual cases analysis are used to discuss how to improve high school students' ability of communication in spoken language.The article is on oral communicative competence based on knowledge, Chinese and English thought pattern, Cultural differences and language cultivated manners. At the same time, the text also mentions how to train students' ability of communication. It is hoped that senior middle school students can have a higher start to find effective ways of training their ability of spoken language.The results of the experiments enlighten us that teachers should pay more attention to students' language competence in the classroom, realize its sources and adopt certain strategies to create a relaxed classroom atmosphere in order to reduce language anxiety and improve the accuracy and fluency of their oral production.
