Reinvention Of Morals And Demand Of Interests

This paper studies the movement of "Remold Spirit of Iron-Man " in Yumen in the period of transfer of Yumen municipal government. Through "Extend Case Method", this paper finds out that the movement implied deep interests demand.This research discovers that under the background of " post - total society ", especially when lack of the institutionalized way of interests expression, the local government adopted the tactics that " reinvented morals " which " Remold Spirit of Iron-Man " for attaining favorable position in bargaining with center government and its agent. Though " Remolding Spirit of Iron-Man ", the government in Yumen enters to the bureaucrat field which possesses of moral habitus, makes morals symbol characteristic with symbol capital, expresses obscurely true interests, achieves the goal of earning profit finally. In this course, the local government has formed the "distributional coalitions", which has its own interests independent of common people's interests. Its purpose is not the maximization of people's interests, but the maximization of its own interests. This conclusion challenges the view of "local corporatism ".This paper also indicates that regression of spirit of iron-man, which the local government spares no effort to pursue, is caused by lack of the platform of public contact in contemporary China, and deficient interests expression space. This way of expressing and appealing interests through moral symbol character is a unique way of expression of interests, which reflects a new form of reaping with interests and social changes.
