Social responsibility is psychological traits which individual displays great initiative in his social moral responsibility and obligation. Researching social responsibility and its developing characteristic of university students is necessary for psychological and ideological education of university students. There is a little study about sense of social responsibility at home and abroad, but it isn't systematic. The study of social responsibility will must be an important task along with the rising about positive psychology. External scholars have researched a little about the concept, structure and influencing elements of social responsibility. It is just starting to research social responsibility in our country, still lacking of systematic and scientific theoretical frame and practical investigation, so there is important theoretical value and immediate significance for researching undergraduates' social responsibility.From the point of responsibility target,on the review of the internal and external relevant research ,and based on the situation in China, to proceed in Marxism theory among human ,nature and sociaty from a stable and developmental society which claims ' the " person",to build space-time environment of harmonious society, the paper makes a primary theoretical framework of Undergraduates' social responsibility and adopts the Undergraduates' Social Responsibility Questionnaire according to this framework.It investigates characteristics and influence factors of undergraduates' social responsibility in China using the Questionnaire and put forward an educational proposal. The main conclusions are as following:1. From the point of responsibility target, undergraduates' social sesponsibility includes mater responsibility, culture responsibility and population responsibility. Mater responsibility includes biology responsibility, resources responsibility and environment responsibility.Culture responsibility includes tangible and intangible culture responsibility. Population responsibility includes family, group, nation, and globe responsibility.2. The adopted edition of Undergraduates' Social Responsibility Questionnaire is of a good reliability and vality.It can be used as a tool for measuring undergraduates' social responsibility.3. The developmental level of undergraduates' social responsibility in Cina is high and uneven.4. Concrete family and school environment is a decisive factor of undergraduates' social responsibility.(1)The social responsibility level of ordinary university is higher than the major university', of the grade one is the highest and the grade two is the lowest, of the science undergraduates is the highest and the trade undergraduates is the lowest, of the lowest income is the highest and the highest income is the lowest, of only one child is lower than more children.(2) There isn't a significant difference in social responsibility from sex, origin of family, parents' careers. The resources responsibility of male students is higher than the female; the globe responsibility of female students is higher than the male. The family responsibility of rural students is higher than urban students; the family responsibility of peasants'children is higher than the teachers.(3) There is a significant difference in social responsibility among family income.There is an "N"type according to family income; of students with higher family income has lower social responsibility except 1000-2000 yuan family income per month.There is a significant difference in family income between mater and culture. Students with higher family income have lower the mater and culture responsibility. Students with above 1000-2000 yuan family income per month have much lower family responsibility than others; they have much lower group responsibility than students with 200-500 and 500-1000yuan family income per month.(4) There is a significant difference in the social responsibility between family - types . Only one child is lower than more children, students with one parent is lower than two parents; too. Multiple-child has much higher population responsibility than ongxhild, two. parent child has much higher culture and population responsibility than one. parent child. Multiple-child has much higher family, intangibleand group responsibility than ongxhild. Two . parent child has much higher biology, resources, intangible and group responsibility than one-parent child.(5) There is a significant difference in the social responsibility among schools,grades and departments etc. The social responsibility (except nation and environment) level of ordinary university is higher than the major university'.(6) There is an "U"type in accordance with grades.the social responsibility is descending heavily from grade one (the highest point)to grade two(the lowest point),and is raising slowing from grade three and four to grade five later, and it shows as:Grade one >grade five > grade four > grade three > grade two, there is a significant difference between grade one and grade three. Grade one is much higher than grade three in mater, culture, intangible and group responsibility, too.(7)There is a "half arc" in accordance with liberal arts, science courses, engineering courses and trade courses, the social responsibility of undergraduates with liberal arts, science courses, and engineering courses are high and even, and of undergraduates with trade courses is slower, and it shows as: Science courses > liberal arts > engineering courses > trade courses, science courses are much higher than trade courses in mater responsibility.
