The life responsibility is an important personality trait that one has developed inhis or her survival and development, which is responsible for life. It is very valuableto study it both in theory and practice. Not only can the study fulfill and develop thetheoretical system of responsibility, deepening the investigation of the value ofundergraduates about life, but also it’s able to provide a psychometric tool forstudying the life responsibility, and fasten the education of undergraduates about lifevalue. Nowadays, there are many researches on the responsibility and the socialresponsibility, yet few ones on the life responsibility. Questionnaires for liferesponsibility haven’t existed in our country at present. The main aim of the study isto develop a Life Responsibility Questionnaire for Undergraduates. At first, based on overviews of former researches, the open-typed questionnaireand the outline of the interview were developed.50undergraduates selectedrandomly were asked to finish the open-typed questionnaire,10of whom wasemployed to take a further interview after finishing the questionnaire. Experts on lifeor responsibility were invited to check the outlines of interview through e-mails.and50students who are from20to30were required to complete the open-typedquestionnaire on Internet. Based on the results of questionnaires and interview, aswell as the actual practice in life, the theoretical hypothesis was constructed.Secondly, based on the theoretical hypothesis, referring to the formed questionnaires, the initial questionnaire containing113items was developed. After discussion,76items were left to make up of the preliminary questionnaire. The exploring factoranalysis of the preliminary questionnaire, with which422students were investigated, formed the formal questionnaire. Besides, after investigating629students with theformal questionnaire, the model turned out to be legitimate and fitting by means ofthe confirmatory factor analysis. At last, the Life Responsibility Questionnaire forUndergraduates was examined by many indexes. The internal consistency coefficient(Cronbach a coefficient), split-half reliability, test-retest reliability, content validity and construct validity of the Life Responsibility Questionnaire for Undergraduateswhich was based on the theoretical hypothesis are good. The Cronbach a coefficientis from0.477to0.888; the split-half reliability is from0.419to0.850; the test-retestreliability is from0.508to0.845. Indexes from confirmatory factor analysis shownice characters, indicating that the questionnaire possessions accepted constructvalidity. The main results of this study are as follows:1The life responsibility for undergraduates is a complex construct, consisted ofthree parts, which are the cognition of life responsibility, the emotion of liferesponsibility and the behavior of life responsibility. Each part includes three parts, that is, the responsibility of cherishing life, the responsibility of keeping healthy andthe responsibility of understanding the meaning of life.2the Life Responsibility Questionnaire for Undergraduates takes a goodreliability and validity indexes, which could be used to test the life responsibility ofundergraduates after further improvement.
