A Study On Swiss Apprenticeship Model Of Vocational Education

Apprenticeship is the main model of vocational education in Switzerland. More than 60% of youth in Switzerland participated in the apprentice system to get the vocational education. This paper at first traced back the history of apprenticeship in Switzerland and introduced its present conditions. Then it introduced the operation of this model in detail through some examples included manage finance, teaching method, teachers training, learning, apprentice's continue education and examination.Based on these facts, the paper analyzed the mechanisms which pushed the Swiss apprenticeship to the success. These mechanisms included management mechanism of clear responsibility; the mechanism of stable funds devotion; the sound law mechanism and the unimpeded information mechanism. This paper still analyzed the deep reasons that form the apprenticeship model in Switzerland.The apprenticeship was also an important model of our country to train the skilled people from the ancient time. Now this model still exists in the vocational education especially in the rural area. But the existed apprenticeship in our country still reserved the old forms and didn't regard as the formal training model. How to make use of apprenticeship in modern society to develop our vocational education? In the last part of this paper the author gave some suggestions through the Swiss experiences.
