Blazing A Way In Education Reform In Song Dynasty: Hu Yuan's Educational Ideology And Practice

Hu Yuan held the balance in scholarship and education history in Song dynasty. He was a great master in education theory ,education practice and education reform field .Hu Yuan (993₁059), character is yizi, Hailing Taizhou .Because of living in An ding Shanxi for generations, he was called Mr. An ding. He was a famous educator ,also a scholar ,at the same time,he was an important person who initiated learning in Song dynasty.《Song yuan xue an》says :"learning is very flourishing in Song dynasty ,An Ding and Tai Shan were forerunners ,Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi agreed to the point of view. An Ding was profound, Tai Shan was crack;An Ding was honest and sincere, Tai Shan was powerful. Their natural disposition was developed furthest. They shouldered the responsibility to propagandize Confucianism. An Ding is mellower than Tai Shan."Edbiz engaged Hu Yuan's whole life, Hu Yuan's disciples were all over the country at that time .Hu Yuan contributed to education career, especially he founded"grasping essential spirit to practice"and"teaching the students according to different specialties", the significance was great .His education reform brought large influence on offspring. In the third part , the paper clarifies Hu Yuan's educational reform ideology. His basic point was Confucianism and his reform intention was"grasping essential spirit to practice". In order to reach the aim, he adopted"teaching students according to different specialties".In the fourth part, evaluating historical status of his educational reform thought. Hu Yuan was an executants of"grasping essential spirit to practice", He tried his best to repair etiquette and music,ethical criterion, and reconstruct Confucianism. He paid much attention to"studying something in order to apply it"and serving the country.In the last paragraph, summarizing Hu Yuan's educational reform thought, combining current education reform, and putting forward some illumination. At the present time, we think Hu Yuan's"teaching students according to different specialties"is ordinary, at that time, it was marvelous pioneering work. Hu Yuan made clear the purpose of the teaching goal,cultivating standard. He was the first one who changed a blurry cultivating mode into a vivid one. He brought forward that"one person could give attention to two or more subjects". As a result, students avoided their learning was thin and weak. Students were not only accomplished in one domain, but also be good at another one .This kind of persons with ability accord with need of society.
