The new curriculum is leading to great changes in both learning and teaching. As a result of the profound change in the philosophy of teaching, the role of a physics teacher is sure to be evaluated on a new level. Over the time, the teacher has been acting as the instructor, the organizer, and the judge in the course of teaching. Based on the angle of the school and teacher, through analysis on the role of the physics teacher and the philosophy of teaching under the new curriculum, this paper is to identify the role of the teacher. More exactly, the paper is to analyze the factors that affect the teacher's awareness of the new role and the actual way that the teacher realizes his/her role, and consequently lead to the conclusion that there is a lack of a proper understanding and even misunderstanding of the physics teacher's role. Through scientific objective analysis of the problems with the teacher when carrying out the new curriculum, the paper is to achieve the aims to renovate the teacher's role, to analyze the influences from cultural background, the teacher's personality, the school role and social elements, to summarize some important practical experience during the course of carrying out the new curriculum, and thereout to reach the strategy of guiding and accelerating the change of the teacher's role. The following researching approaches are applied:1. Motion methodology: It is to analyze and recording the teaching behaviors and thereout to pick out problems and summarize experience.2. Document methodology: It is to obtain theoretical support by consulting and sorting correlative documents of theories.3. Experience methodology: It is, in the completely natural state (without any control), by applying the facts and date coming from the practice of teaching of physics and theoretically analyzing and summarizing the influence of the transfer of the teacher's role. Besides, this paper also adapts some other researching methods such as comparison methodology and inquisition methodology.Through the above methods the study shows that the curriculum reform in the basic education urges the teacher to change into the new philosophy of teaching and new teaching methods, though it will be a long-term process.
