Teacher always faces the situation that the students are not interested in learning again, their motivation of learning turn down, even"learning-weary". The innovation of teaching is imperative under the situation. The new curriculum concept advocates the idea of student-oriented. The center of teaching should transfer from teaching to learning. It asks for not only focusing on how to teach, but also how to study.Learning is a kind behavior on someone's own initiative. It is not only a process of learning passively. The motivation of learning is the inner power of students. And it affects the efficiency of learning. Therefore choose what kind of teaching strategy and how to inspire and maintain the motivation of learning are one of the sixty-four-dollar question in the current education area.It is undoubted that the motivation theory could improve the effect of teaching and learning. But how the theory works on the teaching and learning is still a difficult problem. Professor Keller of Florida University believes that there are four factors affect students'motivation of learning, which is attention, relevance, confidence, satisfaction, also called ARCS model for short. After practice and research in some other countries, the validity of ARCS model has been broadly confirmed.Starting from the practice of teaching, choosing the ARCS model as theory foundation, we put the ARCS model into geography teaching of high school, and try to find a practical multimedia teaching system.With the combination of documentation, case-analyses, observation, this paper conductes a teaching experiment. The result of this experiment indicates that:1. ARCS model strategy could improve teaching practice effectively. It could improve the teacher's understanding level and the learning ability of students, and will largely improve both the teachers and the students'ability.2. It could help teachers solve the difficult of teaching, and it is a key way to improve and maintain the learning interest.3. The combination of information technology and ARCS model will help teachers change their traditional idea, and will improve the teaching level of geography teaching of high school students.
