Along with the in-depth promotion of the new curriculum reform in high school and the promulgation of the General High School Information Technology Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition),the teaching contents and methods of the high school information technology curriculum have undergone certain changes. The high school IT curriculum under the guidance of the new standards is no longer satisfied with the traditional teacher’s lecture and students’ imitation, but pays more attention to the cultivation of students’ core literacy. The project-based teaching advocated in the new standards can promote the cultivation of students’ subject core literacy, but in the actual teaching process, there are also problems such as insufficient motivation for students and poor teaching effect. It is a meaningful task to study how to apply ARCS motivation model to IT course teaching, enhance students’ learning motivation, and thus improve teaching effectiveness, which has great practical value.Firstly, this paper used literature research method to sort out the current situation of domestic and foreign research on ARCS motivation model and project-based teaching, used interview method to investigate the current application status of project-based teaching, analyzed the basis of integrating ARCS motivation model and project-based teaching, took constructivism theory,Dewey’s "learning by doing" theory and self-efficacy theory as the theoretical basis, proposed the design principles and design strategies of high school IT teaching process based on ARCS motivation model, and constructed the project-based teaching process based on ARCS motivation model.Based on the constructivist theory,Dewey’s "learning by doing" theory and self-efficacy theory,we proposed the principles and design strategies of the high school IT teaching process based on the ARCS motivation model, and constructed the high school IT project-based teaching process based on the ARCS motivation model;secondly,we designed a teaching case according to the proposed project-based teaching process and conducted a practical study in the internship school. Finally,a research program was designed to verify the validity, and the data of students’ learning motivation, core literacy level, knowledge mastery and comprehensive ability pre and post-tests were measured and analyzed. The empirical results show that the project-based teaching process of high school IT course based on ARCS motivation model proposed in this paper is feasible, which enhances students’ motivation, develops students’ core literacy in IT subject, and positively affects students’ knowledge mastery and promotes students’ overall ability. The teaching process is validated and provides a valuable reference for the teaching practice of high school IT courses.
