The management is in the final analysis done by and for person. Asa result, the understanding about human nature constituted the logicalfoundation of management theory. The higher education managementis facing the challenge that knowledge-based economy brings, is facingthe urgent need for reforming the irregularity of traditional higherschools' management, faces various unwell which the expand of highschool function brings. This demands the valid support of human natureassumption theories.Seeing from present situation of the research on human naturesupposition, though many domestic scholars has realized thesignificance of the research, this research still seems to be weak.Especially in our country higher education management practice, thephenomenon of neglecting or disregarding the importance of the humannature supposition, copying mechanically, applying slavishly andbehaving blindly universally existence. Owing to this, the writer tries todiscuss the human foundation of higher education management.The paper has analyzed the bad phenomenon which exists in highereducation management, utility turn, industry turn, politicize etc. Theutility turn mainly express in brief turning of education process,imitating turning in higher education management with morals andcustom, school of activity of the public appearance turn. The industryturn refers equating the higher education to the general industry, rulinghigher education management according to market economy movementmechanism. Higher education management politics refers theuniversities regards as the political organization; the political functionwill be artificially exaggerated. These result to higher education essencelosing, human nature losing. Then the author further manages to reflect the essence of the highereducation. The foundation of higher education management is academicorganization, the main activity of the academic organization is scienceactivity, and the target of science activity is to beg reality. So the targetof higher education management is to beg reality. Essence of educationis to train a person to have a freedom of expanding and carry out theability of development according to the person's essence request. It is akind of activity which trains a person, therefore, the essence of highereducation management lies in guiding complete human nature ofconstruction or purchase and development, the higher educationmanagement differs from a general management. For the dissimilarity inproperty and characteristics of organization, the purpose should bedifferent from management essence; its human nature foundation shouldbe different. Therefore, we have to re-inquiry the human natureassumption of higher education management.After carrying on science analysis and reasonableness comparisonamong in several kinds representative human nature suppositions "thetool person", "the economic man", "the social people", the"self-realization person", "the complex person" and "the culturalworker", the writer thought the knowledge person should be the highereducation management logical beginning. "The knowledge person"pursue the truth as a type of community of purpose by disseminating,applying and creating knowledge to develop academic. It mainlyincludes the researcher, teacher and student of high school. Theknowledge person has the characteristics of ages, academic, freedom,perfect, value etc.Finally, the article discussed the construction of paradigm of highereducation which takes "the knowledge person" as human foundationfrom three aspects: the belief, the value, the technical. It proposed thehigher education management should take sincerely believing the truthas the belief pursue, take advocating the truth, the good and the beautyas the value orientation, take learning how to study as the technical aim.
