Based on students' direct experience, Integrated Practical activity Curriculum is practical course which closely associates students' own life and social life, puts emphasis on comprehensive usage of knowledge and technical ability, and embodies the value that experience and life have to students' development. As one of important move of reform for new elementary education course, Integrated Practical activity Curriculum has given rise to the concern and value of researchers, and has led to numerous researchresults since it was brought into new course project. Meanwhile, it has set off query of some course researchers and doubt of man of educational practice. The study takes Changsha city of Hunan province which is an inland province in the middle of china as sample, and launches a systematic and thorough research on present condition of implementation of integrated practical activity curriculum in middle schools in the urban areas of the city, in order to get information about present condition of implementation of integrated practical activity curriculum in Hunan province and even the same kind region of the whole country, and to provide reference for course improvement.The research adopts questionnaire, interview and observation on the spot to investigate present condition of implementation of integrated practical activity curriculum in middle schools in the urban areas of the Changsha city. On the basis of investigation, the study summarizes the result achieved in the process of implementation of integrated practical activity curriculum in middle schools in the urban areas of the Changsha city. Meanwhile, the study points out the problems existing in the process of implementation of integrated practical activity curriculum, and then analyzes the causes, and finally proposes suggestions for improvement.Through investigation we find: teachers, teaching managers, students and students' parents have explicit attitude towards setting up integrated practical activity curriculum;and educational idea and teaching behavior including ideas of students' parents is changing, and study method of students is also changing now, and the course is pushing towards from district to the whole city. However, the investigation finds many problems that can not be neglected: short of knowledge for course value, deviation in terms of understanding of property and characteristics of the course, lack of regulation about course management work, teachers' lower aggressiveness and guide level, tendency of optional character and surfacialization existing in the process of students' participation and cooperation, unreasonable development and exploitation of the course resources, and so on. The reasons that lead to these problems are: lack of the corresponding measure, the check and supervision of social atmosphere, low efficiency of teachers' training and backwardness of the course itself. Therefore, the corresponding suggestions proposed are to take idea change as premise of smooth implementation of the course, and to establish inside and outside environment favorable for valid implementation of the course, and to raise character of teachers who guide integrated practical activity curriculum, and to make the concept and implementation methods of integrated practical activity curriculum perfect...
