Yan-Fu's curriculum theory, one of the main parts of his education theory, isregarded as a most important part for its having a remarkable influence upon themodernization of the China's education. The most special features Of Yan-Fu's curriculumtheory lie in the parts of his conceptions of knowledge, of his perspectives of curriculumand of his conceive of modern curriculum.Telling apart the knowledge into one called Special Knowledge and another calledGeneral Knowledge incarnates the main characteristics of Yan-Fu's conceptions ofknowledge, and his viewpoints on modern curriculum emphasize on the teaching andlearning of the natural science knowledge, which incarnates his perspectives ofcurriculum a scientism looking.And basing on his conceptions of knowledge and perspectives of curriculum, Yan-fuadvanced his conceives of modern curriculum. He constructed his conceive of moderncurriculum by outlining it as being combined by Xuan-xue, Xuan-zhu-xue and Zhu-xueand describing it as a curriculum system which is ranged from low-level to high-level.And also he had divided the subjects to be taught and learned into the ones of Nei-dao andother ones of Wai-dao.In all, by making a comprehensive survey on Yan-Fu's conceive of moderncurriculum, one can easily finds that it indicated the new direction of China's reform andinnovation on curriculum which cast off the yoke of the traditional way of educatingpeople, which was mainly via the teaching and learning of the classical teaching materialsof Confucian school's which are composed by Confucian classics, historical records,philosophical writings and miscellaneous works.
