The curriculum is a process of understanding, practice and value realization, and it is a dynamic system, so it also be called curriculum system. The curriculum develops continuously, and it has past, present and future, its content can enrich and achieve constantly.From the standpoint of dialectical, the curriculum is also a contradictory and unified body. The curriculum has different factors and different angles, so it has different value inclination, and the curriculum has diversity and complexity. The basic forms of curriculum value orientation include "the curriculum value orientation on the basis of individuals", "the curriculum value orientation on the basis of society" and "the curriculum value orientation on the basis of knowledge", the three basic value orientations belong to same different and contradictory aspects of the same thing(curriculum), being in contradictory system, contradict each other, confront mutually, develop moderately , their advantages in contrast changes with the conditional variety. Therefore, the curriculum value orientation has diversified and dynamic characteristics, and it must change constantly with the development of ages.The curriculum value orientation in the institute of higher learning has to grasp curriculum content tightly, appears value diversity, dynamic state, vivid broad characteristics, and in the meantime conform the request of ages, and promote the realization of higher education function. However the traditional curriculum value of the institute of higher learning in our country has such characteristics: single, static, stagnant and narrow etc., and obstruct seriously the realization and the development of our country higher education function. Its disadvantages: only knowledge in the course target in the institute of higher learning is regarded to be supreme, which influence the rational structure of curriculum system of the institute of higher learning, and restrict the constitution and the implement of curriculum in the institute of higher learning; In the curriculum implement, knowledge formation is taken seriously, usage of knowledge, development of ability and training of diathesis are looked down on; professional knowledge is taken seriously, comprehensive knowledge is looked down on; result of examination is taken seriously, the process of acquiring knowledge is looked down on; in the process of the classroom teaching appears "the authoritarism " and "the designing process ". All factors influence subjective initiative between the educator and the receiver of education, tie up the development and raising of the student's creative consciousness and creative ability, obstruct the person's overall development seriously, is harmful to the perfect realization of higher education function and bringing the modern value of higher education into full play. Therefore, the establishment of the new curriculum value viewpoint accord requests of this age is basic assurance which cures for the current curriculum system irregularity, is also initial mission of current curriculum reform in the institute of higher learning.As a medium carry out a higher education targets, the curriculum's basic view should be for the sake of the person's overall development, full promotion of the whole diapason of person's internal factors, realize finally the ideal harmonic state between person, nature and society. The curriculum of new century in the institute of higher learning should pursue to the concept of value of "making people be the center" , have to carry out its center of gravity to transfer in ideology and acting—from paying close attention to knowledge to paying close attention to the person's existence meaning and spirit growth.The curriculum's reform in the institute of higher learning should has many new characteristics, such as many dimension and opening; changing with ages, and renewing curriculum idea; reforming curriculum contents and adjusting curriculum structure; changing the single target, rigid process, the stagnant narrow method; reforming curricular evaluation mechanism, and let each student's character acquire a full development and their personalities be abundant and colorful.
