In the course of development of Chinese higher education, there have a striking phenomenon, that is, most of universities, which should develop diversely, incline to get homogenous. This means that all sorts of universities have become common and been identical in their respective development, at the same time, the appearance and the behavior of these universities also have come into resemblance. What do these phenomenon influence on development of Chinese universities? Many scholars have focus on these problems; moreover, they have obtained some relevant theories correspondingly. However, no theory has looked these problems as an independent and special issue so as to provide the satisfactory explanation. This thesis takes those problems as the core object to research, and strives to make the cause clear, which may come up with a sound theory and be benefit for development of Chinese universities.The whole paper includes five parts. In preface, the problems, which plan to be researched, are designated, and some past achievement of research about relevant issue also are demonstrated. Then, the significance about this research is preferred to. In the first part of main content, the paper intend to make the concept of homogeneity clear and define it properly, subsequently, the paper illustrate all sorts of homogeneous forms of Chinese universities. The second part is not only the key one, but also is the most important part as for creation. Its intention is to reveal the deep cause about the homogeneity of Chinese universities. First of all, from the viewpoint of organization-socialism, the paper apply the theory about which the organization ration have a close relation with the social ration in ration type to analyze the relation between the university and society, through the analysis in detail, the paper draw a evidential conclusion. Secondly, based on the principle of system-pedagogy, the paper explores some other reasons about universities' homogeneity from the institution of higher education. Because of discipline and classification among all universities, the institution of higher education leads to universities' homogeneity. Thirdly, the paper tries to inquire into some other profound cause from the prospective of culture. There are many research have get the typical characteristics of Chinese traditional culture which include following blindly, emphasizing generality and ignoring personality, egalitarianism and so on. These characteristics have been generalized into social psychological feature, and deeply influence on our universities' diversity, which eventually make the most of universities homogenous in type and essence.The third part analyze the shortcoming which caused by homogeneous development of universities, and the result which make universities lose their task to criticize and guide the society, make whole country be deficient of spirits, make universities lose their ability of taking part in international competition.The last part gives proposal to solve these problems. In the first place, we should change our obsolete conception and errant practice about university and restore its essence. In the second place, we should erase the defects of traditional culture; furthermore, our government should alter its administrational model in managing university and carry out various norms to appraise quality of higher education.
