The Recessive Conflict During The Process Of The Institutional Operation

The conflict theory is an important theoretical school of sociology. Many sociology scholars developed and perfected this theory from different points of view since Marx. The reasons of conflict, the different forms of conflict and the social results of the conflict etc. were researched. The present stage of China is being placed in the transformation period. In this period, the contradictions among every kind of benefit groups are inevitable. The social order is not very stable in spite of from a macro angle or a microscopic angle to observe. This transformation period with many kinds of contradiction provide a foundation of the objective environment for the inhibition and prolongation of the conflict theory in China. Every Chinese sociology scholar have burden to study deep in this area, because to construct a harmonious society is the target in this period for all of us. On such a back-ground, the writer found a problem which should be discussed deep. With the more and more quickly development of the city modernization, a so-called street market problem called the attention lf the government. It emerged a kind of recessive conflict on the relationship between the government section and the correlative group. It is difficult to give the kind of conflict an adequate explanation on the basic of the previous conflict theory. The recessive conflict made the measure aimed at the street market hard to show the results in a period of long time. The write lived in this community, so the writer has a good condition to observe the whole process and interview the related personnel. Based on above works, the writer tries to put forward a few problems as follow:(1) What kind of power makes the formal institution lost its effect?(2) What is the problem of the current measure? What is the result of the current measure?(3) How to integrate this kind of recessive conflict?The writer tries to answer the above questions during the process of discussion, and meanwhile, tries to make the conflict theory more perfect. This is also the basic purpose of this thesis.The writer's thought is like this: first, the writer described the nature condition of this community called S community, then the writer points out that the nature condition and the social factors are what the street market depend on. We can recognize a problem through the study of these factors. The problem is that the formation of the street market is not a simple problem results from the fact that some social members disobeyed the institution for benefit, it is related with these nature factors and social factors. But the current measure aimed at this street market is compelling confiscation simply. It is not a good measure for solving the problem completely; on the contrary, it makes the institution sinking into a kind of embarrass circumstance. The sellers of the street market did not obey the institutional provision, they continue to manage on the street, at the same time,they do all what they can to escape the institutional punishment. They do not revolt the institution nakedly, just boycott passively by this kind of way. In this thesis, the writer called this kind of boycott recessive conflict. This kind of conflict hides behind the surface phenomenon looked peaceful. The form of this kind of conflict is not violent revolution and is also not bargaining, is just boycott passively. Because the above form of the conflict, the communication between the institution and the object of the institution is deficient. This leads to that the institution can not get adjustment, and moreover, the problem of the street market can not get basic solution.The following is the basic standpoint of this thesis. For the problem of the street market of this community, it is the recessive conflict leads to the problem of the institution hard to expose and revise. Therefore, the effects of the institution disappear. The street market survives continuously. The settlers boycott the institution but avoid directly conflict with the people who carried out the institution. The result of this kind of conflict is that the dissatisfy motion spread around the related crowd. Through this process, the surviving modes of the street market get reinforce. The key of this problem is how to conciliate the conflict. The recessive conflict should be exposed. It should develop the beneficial function to expose the contradiction. So the institution can get adjustment too.This thesis is a research for a realistic problem with the angle of conflict theory. The meaning of this research is as follow. On the theories level, the writer found a new form of conflict, it is the recessive conflict. This kind of conflict is different from the previous conflict theory. This is a little contribution to the conflict theory. On the realistic level, the writer worked hard to study a social problem which can not get solution for a long time, tried to found the key point of this problem, and provided a new reference solution for this problem. Meanwhile, the thesis is a reference for other similar problems. To cope with some social problems, it is not enough to deter them simply. Once the related groups get the rules to avoid the punishment on the basic of practise, the process of determent will become a kind of fantastic game. It needs the combination of a serious of related measures to ravel out a problem. The institution needs conflicts as a kind of communication to get adjustments. On this level, conflict is necessary for communication. Therefore, the recessive conflict should be avoided. This is a little realization of the writer during the process of investigation and of course, it is also a problem which needs to be discussed further in the future.
