The paper makes a systemic analysis on the connotation, formation, development and its moral value of perspective taking in human life, to which it refers that, according to the theoretical analysis and empirical research of the paper, one can distinguish his viewpoints from others', change his thinking perspectives and harmonize his own views with others' different ideas on the basis of understanding others. Perspective taking can be classified into spatial perspective taking and social perspective taking (including cognitive perspective taking and affective perspective taking). Affective perspective taking can also be named empathy. With the development of the "decentralization" and the increase of the experience of interaction with their classmates, an individual's capability of perspective taking develops from self-centeredness to social and conventional perspective taking. The capability of social perspective taking, as it is the important precondition of building good interpersonal relationship, can improve one's moral cognition, deepen his moral emotion and is beneficial to the formation of moral deeds.Based on the investigation with the questionnaires on undergraduates, this paper surveys the developmental rules and characteristics on their capabilities of social perspective taking. The research results show: Firstly, the total scores of the students perspective taking are normal distributing; secondly, the scores of student leaders and non-singletons are higher than common students and singletons on the social and cognitive and affective perspective taking, meanwhile, the scores of students from rural areas are much higher than students from urban areas only on the social and cognitive perspective taking; thirdly, these elements, such as sex, achievement, college major, year and so on, don't have any effect on students' scores directly.In conclusion, I think that improving such capabilities is one of the vital and important psychological foundation of moral education. At present, the moral education in higher universities and colleges should strengthen the cultivation of the students' perspective taking capabilities and try to choose some effective means of training and encourage students to participate in some mutual activities so as to practically raise the efficiency of the moral education.
