A Study Of Leisure Motivations And Constraints For Old People In Nanjing City

With the coming of population aging, the rapid growth of economy, and the elevating of people's leisure consciousness, the leisure market of the old people will certainly occupy an important part in our country's tourism market. So it is urgent and very important that we should study leisure constraints and motivations of the old people.Based on the review of the relevant theory and research, this thesis take the old people in Nanjing city as a case, and this thesis will discusses and analyzes old people's leisure constraints and motivations in term of different demography. The relationship between the leisure constraints and motivations is considered.Five hundred questionnaires were given to residents who are above 60 years old in Nanjing city. Random sampling method was used in the study, and 432 effective questionnaires were collected. Softwell SPSS11.0 for Windows was used to data analysis. The results were following as: three most favorite types of leisure activities of the aged in Nanjing were: social activities, preserving health activities, leisure and recreation. On the leisure constraints and motivations, the most important motivation was"keep healthy", the biggest constraint was "whether the leisure facilities are safe or convenient". There is significance difference in age, marriage condition, education level and incomes in leisure motivations, while there is no obvious difference in sex and career engaged before. At he same time, there are positive relationship between leisure constraints and motivations, except personal inner constraints and the motivations of knowledge probing. However, what's the difference between the research results of this thesis and the relevant research results abroad is that it is the structure constraints that affect the aged in participating in the leisure activities most in Nanjing city.According to the results above, this thesis not only gives advices and measures to the aged themselves, the related government departments, the development, planning and service departments of tourism, but also give some advices to the later researchers.
