Let Teachers Work With Vigour And Enthusiasm

Teaching indolence refers to an extreme reflection teachers have when they are unable to cope with their work stress. It is closely related to teachers' occupation stress and mental health condition and is a combined exhaustion of emotions, attitude and actions under a long-term work pressure. In a great deal of schools, quite a number of teachers are both mentally and physically exhausted. They are lack of teaching enthusiasm and motivation of creation, and lack of energy for teaching research, also have no enough respect for their occupation. Teaching indolence has becoming more and more serious which is influencing teachers' mental and physical health, the improvement of their living quality, the improving of school teaching quality, students' development and even the improvement of the whole society in a negative way. Therefore more and more people are paying attention to this kind of situation.I took Shenzhen Meili Elementary School, my recent working school, as the object of my study. Through probing into the indolence situation I plan to introspect the management problems in order to try a series of new management measures, to improve the teachers' living and working conditions and the school teaching quality. Through conducting polls among teachers, observation, investigation, case study and document study and so on, the study showed the teaching indolence in three ways, including teachers' sense of job responsibility, their love for the students, their urge for job improvement. It also has explained the reasons of the indolence in three ways, of the social circumstances, the school management and the teachers themselves. Overall measures and tactics have been illustrated on how to reduce the indolence through combining the school system management and caring the teachers humanely. The study also illustrated in detail the measures to reduce the indolence such as to improve the school system construction, establish learning-centered organizations, create teaching and study atmosphere, improve the relations among the teachers and to establish positive evaluation system etc.
