A Brief Comment On Gui Mao Schooling System

In the late of the 19th Century, China suffered from capitalism invasion suddenly and strongly. The crisis of society made traditional education deeply informed from surface, shape to the content system, even the education values. So the traditional education slowed to decline, and the new education was born at the same time. Our modern education system began at the late of Qing Danasty. From 1902 to 1903, Qing Government gave out the Approved by His Majesty Schooling Regulation and the Moving to Settle Schooling Regulation. The two regulations laid the foundation of modern schooling system. The former was called "Ren Yin Schooling System", the latter was "Gui Mao Schooling System", while the latter took the place of the former quickly after it was published. We all know that the latter had a practical effect on our modern education system.In my paper, I want to give a research about the latter from the internal cause (the demands of modern education and the development of new schooling and the promotion of the officials and educators in the late Qing Danasty) to the external cause(the influence of church education abroad and the educational system in Japan). And I also want to talk about the backgrounds and conditions to promulgate "Gui Mao Schooling System". Although "Gui Mao Schooling System" took honesty and filial piety as basement and took Chinese history and great works as bedrocks, it also signed China education has developed into a modern, all-sided educational system. "Gui Mao Schooling System" absorbed Japanese modern education, almost intactly transplanted it. And it also formed education system from primary schools, junior schools, senior schools to colleges and universities, which made the traditional aim(to become governor)of going to school changed."Gui Mao Schooling System" was born in semi-feudal and semi-colony China, so it reflected the character of Chinese system used by western(Graduates from different schools were given the same rewards as Civil service exam, while women education was delayed at that time).But because China is fairly large and the development of economic is unequal, the principles of "Gui Mao Schooling System" is united and flexible. the most importance is that the design of "Gui Mao Schooling System" reflected the spirit of modern education(based education and talent education of different subjects).That the new system was put into use promoted the new educational development, made the old educational system abolished and caused the feudalistic educational system disintegrated. "Gui Mao Schooling System" changed the educational system in the late Qing Danasty and valued schooling education and universal education. It not only promoted course design and education contents informed, but also promoted the spread of western natural science and the spread of political thoughts in China. So I think "Gui Mao Schooling System" made knowledge member in China greatly change.In a word, "Gui Mao Schooling System" laid the foundation of China modern educational system, and it also made China education break away from self-closed. Then our education can be connected with the world education and develop together.
