An important goal of modern education is to shape nationals, and give them national consciousness. From the late age of Qing Danasty, The idea of "shape nationals" appeared as trend of educational thought, and then entered into the institution and curriculum.Soaked in the idea of shape nationals, the national consciousness appeared in the field of education during the late age of Qing Danasty and the early age of the Republic of China by Dr. Sun Yat-sen gradually. During the period, the national consciousness consists of two questions:one is how to shape nationals, and another is give them which modern consciousness.This paper is to organize the meaning of national consciousness during the period and emphasis on the influence of national consciousness on modern school institution. After that, we could find that the national consciousness in modern school institution emerged as a process of the mixture of subjects and nationals in1904, national in1912and free and equal personal in1922.In three part, Analyzing the modern school history curriculum standard of the period proves that process of development in the field of modern school institution. And also the idea of nation, liberty and equality emerged in modern school history curriculum, which changed from the national consciousness in the field of modern school institution.History subject in modern school had an effect on the shape of the national consciousness. And the national consciousness changed gradually in history textbooks between1904and1928. The main national consciousness changed from the idea of nation and right to the historical thoughts in history textbooks during the period.The national consciousness appeared in the field of education during the late age of Qing Danasty and the early age of the Republic of China by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. It entered into the modern school institution, and also emerged in curriculum. From the national consciousness of the modern school institution, history curriculum standard to history textbooks, we could find the building process of the national consciousness and the main national consciousness. It proved that history subject had an positive effect on the shape of the national consciousness.
