In recent decades, the rapid development in education measurement, the application of item response theory has become wider. Analysis of college students in particular, a high school student and the primary results is a very great potential for development. Many researchers and educators are being input to the study and practice of item response theory. This shows great role.In this paper, a brief account of developments in education measurement, measurement analysis of item response theory and the classical theory of the two theories, find the similarities and differences between the two, their advantages extremely shortcomings .In addition, in view of item response theory to be the normal oval model detailed, very meaning of the parameters of the model, Gibbs sampling algorithm and the EM proven formula and the parameters of the project. According to the examination results and computational mathematics students come to the project parameters, and then analyzed.The actual parameters of the project have been difficult parameters and distinction, and thus the subject of good and bad, and the analysis of the study and understanding of the situation and to improve the teaching and examinations.Finalry, item response theory in the various aspects of the application and development. Item Response Theory in sports measurement field, the field of distance education, data analysis, personnel assessment fields and other areas have played an important role in the development.
