It is an urgent need to establish a perfect Assessment of Education Quality system for the elementary education. The fact that more and more countries participate in international large-scale education measurement project and implement the evaluation of education gradually and deeply shows that the government attaches to this issue. According to the meaning of education measurement and the study made by scholars, we can realize the importance of research in examination papers quality evaluation.First of all, this paper introduces the significance and the development status of the paper quality analysis. With detailed description of Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT), this research then completes the diagnosis analysis study to the paper qualify, taking one math examination tested by some middle school in Hubei Province for example. The analysis not only checks whether the paper achieves the propositional objectives via qualitative descriptive judgment, but also evaluates the paper qualify based on examinees’response.By empirical analysis in the strengths and weaknesses of CTT and IRT, this paper suggests applying two educational theories to measure the paper’s quality synthetically. After some sample cases study based on IRT, the result shows that it isn’t reasonable to treat traditional test scores as indicators of student ability in some degree. Hence, it is proposed to use more objective and fairer parameters (such as the ability parameter in IRT) instead of the scores. This paper quality analysis also reveals the phenomena that many teachers focus on theories of knowledge but ignore culturing students’ application ability. In order to optimize the follow-up teaching work, the mathematics teachers should pay more attention to improve students’ability of utilization knowledge. In the light of the quantitative analysis and qualitative interpretation, we better understand the development of primary education in Hubei Province. This thesis finally reaches a scientific conclusion and provides some corresponding recommendations for the future improvement. |
