Health-preserving can be perceived as a kind of traditional sports that are established on the base of traditional Chinese culture. And it's an academical treasure in the researching area of traditional sports. This thesis aims at exploring and analyzing the metaphysical Health-preserving-thoughts implied in Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty and their impact on the Modern Concept of Fit-keeping. Well, it takes the representative person, Confucius and Xun Zi of Confucianism school and Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi of Taoism school as examples. Several parts bellow are carried on to elaborate this:The first part: This part introduces the historical origins of our country's Pre-Qin Dynasty Health-preserving-thoughts, and analyzes the historical background of Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty. Our country's ancient Health-preserving-thoughts budded from Shang or Zhou period, being enriched and perfected gradually with the permeation of Chinese ancient philosophy and various natural sciences. Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty were formed during spring and Autumn and Warring States periods of China, and they were reaching maturity gradually under the historical background of developed productive forces, social changes and extremely sharp class struggles. The second part: This part elaborates the Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucius and XunZi and their activities, basing on the Confucianist philosophy of Pre-Qin dynasty. Confucianist Health-preserving-thoughts in Pre-Qin dynasty start from the realism with an active view of life, and they especially emphasize the function of individual moral cultivation in Fit-keeping. Their arguments about the Health-preserving-thoughts stress on the cultivation and construction of people's personality, temperation, psychology, character and other kinds of qualities. Also they value people's relationship, moral code and purpose of Fit-keeping.The third part: This part elaborates the Health-preserving-thoughts of Lao-Zi and Zhuang -Zi and their activities, basing on the Taoist philosophy of Pre-Qin dynasty. Taoist Health-preserving-thoughts in Pre-In dynasty base on the world outlook that Tao makes all things grow, the view of categorical identification and the epistemological philosophy of sitting tight. They believe in conforming to the nature and assert the thoughts of reverting to truth and melancholy. They emphasize the conservative Fit-keeping activities which use quiet to nourish spirits and utilize motion to support bodies. The Fourth part: This part elaborates the differences and similarities of Health-preserving-thoughts between Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin dynasty. Both Confucianism and Taoist school in Pre-Qin dynasty stress on the thoughts that spirits and bodies should be raised at the same time. They all assert that we should combinate the motion and rest, restrain the desire and cultivate the ethnics to keep fit. However, there exist differences of the aims of Confucianism and Taoist school. Confucianists preserve health to realize their value in lifies and social ambitions. Then, Taoists preserve health to save the worth of lifies. From the aspect of the theories and ways of fit-keeping, Confucianists emphasize the moral and temperamental cultivation and rest, while Taoists emphasize conformation to the nature and motion. The fifth part: This part inquires into the enlightenment of health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin dynasty on the modern concept of fit-keeping. Four parts are discussed in this thesis to elaborate such impact: 1. Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty provide the ideological basis for modern concept of fit-keeping. 2. Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty provide the reasonable behavioural pattern for modern concept of fit-keeping. 3. Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty conform to the need of people with inferior healthy states. 4. Health-preserving-thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty promote the universality of the life long physical exercises.
