With hard competition among universities, almost every universitystart to pay close attention to existence, and manage to win withcharacteristics. The normal universities which are transiting tocomprehensive universities promote the running characteristics of teachereducation based on their own advantage at proper time. Seeing thepresent situation of the normal universities, all of them are working atelevating the academic level and enhance the discipline competence. Is itenough to achieve, the teacher education characteristics? What is theteacher education characteristics? The thesis try to explore the answerfrom history with analyzing data and researching the history. In the pastone hundred years, the teacher education characteristics sparkled inthe normal universities. The features are: teacher education sustains theuniversity; the teacher education discipline guide other disciplines. Thesefeatures disappeared in the normal universities after 1980s. There aresome aspects, in the final analysis, such as the policy of government pointunclearly, recognize the teacher profession unadequately, the talenttraining modal unchange, no discipline support the teacher education andso on. Facing the aspects, on the basis of analyzing the necessity andpossibility of reconstructing the teacher education characteristics,promote some practical measures. First, understand deeply the teacheris professional personnel. Second, establish independent teachereducation discipline .Third, change the talent training modal to make theprofessional feature distinctive.
