The teacher is one of the key factors that affects the quality of education, so the teacher education receives broad attention throughout the world. Teacher professionalization is the effective way to improve the quality of teacher and promote education development. In order to promote teachers'professional development and improve the quality of teacher, many countries set up their teachers'professional standards. The teachers'professional standards in UK contain many national, well arranged and systematic teacher standards. This dissertation is helpful to know the teachers'professional standards in UK deeply and enrich our research on teachers'professional standards. It will provide international experience for formulating the teachers'professional standards in our country.This dissertation is divided into five chapters, as the followings: The first chapter explains the reasons for doing this research and introduces the present researching situation of this issue at home and abroad. It also talks about my research methods and defines some conceptions.The second chapter analyses the background of the standards. This chapter analyses the background from four aspects: the need of the age, the crisis of basic education, the effect of teacher professionalization and the pushing of government and society.The third chapter describes the progress of the standards and introduces a series of standards and its latest condition. The teachers'professional standards in UK have experienced ferment, forming and revision phrases. It also published professional standards for qualified teacher status, induction standards, threshold standards, advanced skills teachers standards, subject leaders standards and headteachers standards.The forth chapter analyses teacher professional standards in UK. Besides explaining the standards from theories, this chapter also analyses the standards from horizontal, longitudinal and international comparative aspects.The last chapter puts forward some suggestions for formulating teachers'professional standards in our country through analyzing the teachers'professional standards in UK.
