Orienteering Colleges And Universities In JiangSu Province Status And Development Strategies

It will make a positive effect on improving the students'integrated quality for a high school to develop the directional sports.Investigation and analysis of the current status and existing problems of orienteering in the universities of JiangSu province has significant meanings to promote the orienteering in JiangSu. 114 universities have been selected for this research and the investigation has been taken via field trips, questionnaires, expertise interview etc.The results show: (1) the main reasons that block the orienteering expansion in universities of JiangSu province are lack of fileds, equipments, qualified teachers, creation of orienteering maps, students organization, teaching preparation, lack of teaching books, outlines and potential dangerousness. (2) Orienteering popularization in universities of JiangSu province is low. Most of the teachers are young male teachers; only very few of them took orienteering as their original major. They are not fully educated in orienteering and weak in orienteering knowledge structure, but have great development potential. Incomplete training system is an important factor that causes the lack of qualified teachers, and then impacts the popularization of orienteering in universities. (3) Even for those colleges and universities which have already set up orienteering, big differences exist among their course structure, course content and examine method.Development strategies proposed are: Further enhance the training system for orienteering teachers among the universities; Strengthen the orienteering propaganda; Complete the organization; Increase the orienteering competition events; Enlarge the impacts; Facilitate the research and development of orienteering equipments and maps; Enhance the communication to complete the orienteering course system.
