Transformation From Tradition To Modern

Nanjing Senior High School is a famous school which has a history of almost 125 years. Its predecessor was NanJing Academy of classical learning which was the highest college and educational center in modern time in JiangSu Province. Up till now, it is still one of the four most famous senior high schools in JiangSu Province. When most other similar famous academies of classical learning disappeared later, this one-hundrend- year-old school is still thriving and prosperous, so the systematic analysis on its organizational changes is not only a respect for the past, but also has a good deal of implication for the future. The development of NanJing Senior High School is not only a typical example of the educational modernization in JiangSu, but also an epitome of the educational modernization in China.The article uses the framework of the theory of organization change to analyze its 125 years'history, which falls into four main succeeding stages as with organizational goal,personnel,structure,technology and culture, in order to analyze its transformation course from tradition to modern, and to summarize its major drive and resistance that effect its reform during the transformation course.
