In China ,urban and rural dual-structure in the society and economy is still clear, which results in the noticeable disparities in economy, culture and social lives between the cities and the rural areas. Education, as one part of the society, especially the compulsory education has also been influenced by such a dual structure. It can't be neglected that the disparities of investment in China's compulsory education is very obvious in the city and the countryside.The paper employs the basic theories and the methods of economics, sociology, management and education from the view of urban and rural dual-structure and tells about the disparities of investment in compulsory education in the city and countryside in details based on the present research. It is divided into four parts.Part one: Disparities of investment of compulsory education in the urban and rural areas. It analyzes chiefly the difference of this investment in education capital, running-school conditions, teachers'income and education burdens for the urban and rural residents through the recent data lists and their negative influences resulted from the difference.Part two: Analysis of the causes for this difference. The reasons for the disparities of investment of compulsory education in the city and countryside are very complicated. Many factors, such as the urban and rural dual-structure, different education policies, abuses of investment system of compulsory education, the transfer of governmental responsibilities, the weak legal guarantee, the change of national economical policies and the amount of running schools by the private will all exert an impact on the difference of investment of compulsory education in the city and countryside.Part three: The suggestions on shortening the difference of investment of compulsory education between the urban and rural areas. According to the causes mentioned above, it is necessary to take a series of measures, including establishing the unified, harmonious policy concept for compulsory education in the city and countryside; reforming and improving investment system of compulsory education; adopting the various channels to raise the money; regulating the financial transfer-payment system of compulsory education; regulating the laws and regulations related investment in compulsory education.Finally, the conclusion. It sums up several questions in developing the compulsory education and puts forward the related tentative plans and proposals.
