Based on the survey of related situations that the mathematics teachers from secondary schools use the history of mathematics in teaching, the paper mainly focuses on the issues of the necessity, strategies, principles, the design of the teaching patterns , rational suggestions, the conditions that are needed, analysis of rank order of which should integrate the history of mathematics into the mathematics teaching course of secondary schools.The main body consists of two parts. The first part is the questionnaire of the survey which aims at investigating the mathematics teachers of 9 secondary schools of Hohhot and analyses of it. The aims of survey are: 1.to know about the knowledge on the history of mathematics of the secondary school teachers;2. mathematics teachers'opinions on "educational function of the history of mathematics";3.the situation of secondary school teachers integrating the history of mathematics into teaching course.4.the ways that they acquire the knowledge about the history of mathematics and so on.The main findings of the questionnaire are :1.Generally speaking, the teachers of secondary schools are lack of the knowledge about the history of mathematics.2.The teachers from secondary schools are lack of the knowledge of educational function of the history of mathematics.3.The teachers of secondary schools lack the zeal to learn the history of mathematics.4.Most teachers from secondary schools think that it is necessary to integrate the history of mathematics into teaching course, but the practice in the course teaching is not so ideal.5.They are dissatisfied with depths, structures ,and practical function of history of mathematics in teaching materials and reference books that they use currently.Meanwhile, this passage analyses the difficulties that the teachers of secondary schools will face when integrating the history of mathematics and raises strategies to solve the difficulties.The second part in this paper illustrates how to integrate the history of mathematics into teaching course effectively and systematically.In mathematics materials of secondary schools, there are many strategies to integrate the history of mathematics:1.putting it every segment of the materials;2.telling "the mathematics stories";3.setting up the special topic "the selected part of the history of mathematics to teach";4. setting up the special column "recommending monograph of the history of mathematics".In mathematics class, the strategies of integrating the history of mathematics are :1.According to the context of curriculum, coming into the subject by teaching the history of mathematics.2.Introducing properly the course of historical developments that are related to concepts of mathematics.3.Introducing students how mathematicians in different countries at different times solve problems in different ways.4.designing "teaching patterns" in class using the history of mathematics.5.Talking about mathematicians' great achievements by combining names of invention and creation.6.Talking about its general developing situation by combining mathematics symbols.7.Using the historical problems of mathematics to stress the ways to think about the mathematics.8.Using mathematicians' errors, confusion, frustration and failures to change students' wrong views on Mathematics.Out of class, there are some strategies as well,such as :1.Telling the stories about mathematicians;2.Making reports of the history of mathematics;3.Discussion meetings of the history of mathematics.4.lectures of the history of mathematics;5.Exhibitions of the history of mathematics;6.Art performences of the history of mathematics;7.Films of the history of mathematics;8.Reading the history of mathematics.At present, although many educationists have realized the importance of the history of mathematics, there are only a few current teaching patterns in which teaching of mathematics are combined with the history of mathematics directly. So it is necessary for the teachers to look up and read the historical documentary and to design the proper teaching patterns for class. Two teaching patterns are given in this passage. 1. Aim to bring the history of mathematics and mathematics culture (the cultural background of Gou Gu Theorem) to teaching course in class, based on the designation of teaching patterns of Gou Gu Theorem; 2. Aim to show mathematics' beauty to students and improve interest of learning mathematics, based on the designation of the teaching pattern "Golden Section". At last, the paper states proper suggestions, conditions that are needed and the problem of rank order during the course of integrating the history of mathematics in to mathematics teaching of secondary school.
