As the new century coming, e-learning has already been recognized by more and more people. The construction and development of network technology platform is a prerequisite for teaching and learning in network environment. It becomes the problem in educational fields that what platform would be choose or designed can make e-learning course much better. At present, e-learning and course management system (CMS) has many variety, and the function of them is different, and they are not compatible. So this article introduces Moodle that is free and open source. Moodle is designed and exploited by social constructionism. It can offer a free and modular learning environment, operated simply, used convenience. Moodle can realize the communion of course resource, online teaching, not-online teaching, cooperative group learning, monitoring the process of study. Moodle has already been applied in abroad, and more and more areas and schools begin to use moodle in teaching and learning.This article introduces the situation of Moodle's application, the fundamental characteristic of Moodle, how to install and use Moodle in Windows system, the advantage of Moodle in teaching with the literature research method and the research method of web investigation. At the same time, it brings forward a model of Moodle in teaching by analyzing and researching the e-learning course about Moodle, and analyzing each element in the model. The model wants to offer reference for the application of Moodle in teaching, let general school can establish e-learning environment by low cost, and supplement the traditional teaching.
