Presently, the Distance Education has become an important content in the process of educational. the web-based course is the core of the distance education,which scale and implementation decide the distance learning quality. The Web-based course in our country still has some problems, although it has obtained a certain achievements. The individual learning and limited interaction model have been unable to satisfy the learners'rising expectations. The application of web-based collaborative learning in distance education can eliminate the feeling of being isolated of distant learners, facilitate the communication and exchanges between teachers and students, and improve the online learning quality. Online collaborative learning is becoming a new direction of online learning.This article gives the comprehensive to the Web-based course at first, then analyzes the situation of our country's school pattern and the educational model, emphatically pointed out the significance of the online collaborative learning, proposed the viewpoint that "the teaching interactive" is the key in the study of collaborative Learning and the ultimate goal is to take a change from "teaching" to "understand".In theoretical research, we analyze the characteristics of the web-based course, functional advantages of the collaborative learning and the relations of the web-based course and the collaborative learning. We also take a comprehensive analysis to the rationale of the study of collaborative Learning in web-based course.In specific research, this article utilizes the economics of education, the curriculum theory, the teaching theory and the educational psychology, carries on the analysis to three aspects: implementation condition; process link; role transformation, and provides specific strategies to help teachers design and operate the collaborative activities in web-based course.
