More and more people pay close attention to the elder well-being issue with the aging proceeding speeding up. Our study base on outcomes of the elder well-being researches inside and outside country. We investigate 491 aged people over 60 years old by Multiple Happiness Questionnaire(MHQ)in communities first time in order to evaluate the elder well-being and reveal influence factors in communities overall and approach the strategies of improving the elder well-being.1. The result of reliability and validity indicates that the scale refer to measure the elder well-being.2. (1) The elder well-being in communities is high, total well-being is 6.36±1.44, many happiness is 19.1%; happiness is 31.4%; very happiness is 18.1%; extremely happiness is 3.7%. (2) Spouse, higher education, health, better daily function, better family relationship, better interpersonal relation, more close friends, more satisfaction of circumstance and more hobbies affect elder well-being actively. (3) Family relation, close friends, health and education degree are major factors. (4)The five major factors influence well-being of the elder directly and indirectly.3. The elder well-being is higher than middle school students, college students and soldiers.We propose strategies for improving elder well-being according to the results: firstly, systemic well-being evaluation; secondly, establish community mental health system, improve mental health prevention system; the third is impulse active aging; the last one is health instruction and health promotion.
