Along with the deep development of the globalization and enter of WTO, regionalization has become the new current in the knowledge-based economy, regional competitiveness gets more and more attention and study. During this process, the research of higher education competitiveness also gets special attention, so the estimation to regional higher education competitiveness has become the focus of research.Based on the internal and international situation of higher education, this thesis is divided into six chapters. In Chapter 1, the research sources, the background, significance of research and research methods are introduced and some related concepts are explained and clarified too. Chapter 2 of this study focuses on the theoretical base of national competitiveness theory and human capital theory. In chapter 3, the factor, intention and characteristics of regional higher education competitiveness are analyzed deeply. Then, based on the essential principle of general evaluation and factor analysis method, 32 indexes are selected in 6 sides from the view of educational resource and efficiency. In chapter 4 and chapter 5, the competitiveness of provincial higher education is evaluated and analyzed through factor analysis and clustering analysis. In chapter 6, the conclusions are drawn that the competitiveness of provincial higher education differs largely among 31 provinces, and higher educational resource is not in accord with higher educational efficiency and provincial higher education does not correspond with the economy development. Besides, the paper put forward some suggestions about how to enhance different regions'competitiveness such as that the state strengthen the supportive power, and different regions should strengthen intercommunication when they are enlarging their inner development.
