With the further deepening of economic globalization, the adjustment and optimization of world industrial structure, and the rapid development of science and technology, the service trade has become more and more important in international trade, with height technical content and high added-value, environmental protection and energy saving and other advantages. With countries paying more and more attention to the cultural “soft power” and the development trend of cultural diversity, trade in education service has become important area, especially in overseas consumption for higher education, which competition is particularly fierce. The typical developed countries attract foreign students through the development of open policies and provide quality education services, and have made great gains. The development of education service trade in China is currently poor, and the gap between the developed countries is relatively large. China is faced with many challenges, vigorously develop the education service trade is not only the needs of national economic development, is to promote the transformation of the mode of development of the state, the economic structure optimization, to enhance the “soft power” and the competitiveness of the country’s major strategic initiatives, it is necessary to in-depth study. The paper is based on the theory of comparative advantage and competitive advantage theory, through comparative analysis between China and United States, Britain, Australia in higher education services exports, to obtain the present situation and the international competitiveness of China. Mainly from the following aspects: firstly, the development of higher education service exports of China and the United States, Britain and Australia. Secondly, compute the competitiveness of these countries, using three indicators of the international competitiveness evaluation. Thirdly, to analyze the influencing factors of China’s higher education service export, through the standard analysis and empirical analysis, based on the “Diamond Model”. Finally, to propose the suggestion of improving the competitiveness of higher education service exports in China.
