This study is base on aesthetic and psychology theories, with the goal of a full-scale scanning of the aesthetic value of computer game. At the very beginning, what we should do is enlarge the definition of"aesthetic value"to some extent, as to the computer game, a great portion of its aesthetic values are unacknowledged by the narrow definitions of dominant aesthetic theories. Hence, we must establish an open attitude, to accept any positive emotional/sensory values as our research target. Then, we will use three fundamental structural elements:gameplay, background, interface as the mainframe, and introduce some simple/independent/basic aesthetic values which are innate to humankind, and being widely used by computer game. The basic aesthetic values also join together to form much complicated and advanced system, as the"complex"and the story, these two kinds of system possess their own aesthetic values too, which is emerge with the systems,--that means come from the arrangement of the components. We keep emphasizing that the relationship among different aesthetic values could influence the general aesthetic value. We argue that none of the aesthetic values in computer game should make themselves too prominent to inhibit the express of other aesthetic values. With this premise, the ideal game is the"harmony game"which could fill the different aesthetic needs well without conflict, This is also in accordance to the theory of free by Kant and Schiller, hence bring the player experience of free. At the end, we discuss briefly the comparison of general aesthetic value (free) between computer game and the reality, computer game and other forms of art.
