With the rapid development of China's socialist modernization, the nation's material wealth builds up, but its spiritual civilization falls behind the material civilization, even with a decline in such fields as social ethics and family ethics. Problems of morality among the middle school students, especially filial duty failures, spring up.Part I deals with the definitions and connotations of filial duties, introducing five parts of filial duties for educating middle school students. First, the middle school students should be grateful to their parents; Next, they shoud love and care their parents if they can; The third, students should respect their parents and their suggestion and decision; The fourth, the middle school students not only need to love their parents, they also need to showing respect and love for the elder; Last, the middle school students shoud render meritorious service and make a distinguished career in order to serve country. This also a kind of filial duty Then follows the significance of filial education in middle school, which involves the form of education as a foundation for a harmonious society, as a standard definition for the relationship between children and parents, and as a solution to filial duty failures among middle school students.Part II explores the theoretical principles in ancient and contemporary China and abroad to illustrate the philosophical foundation for filial education in middle school. Filial education in traditional China can be founding in such aspects as supporting one's parents, showing respect and love for the elder, gently making proposals to parents, and establishing a distinguished career. Theories and practice of filial education in Korea and Japan and Singapore are also introduced in this part.Such as in Korea, filial duty have a important position in Korea's material and intellectual life. Korean think that supporting one's parents and showing respect and love for the elder is a kind of holy duty from children. Japanese and Singaporean have analogous viewpoint too. The theoretical principles in contemporary China assimisate fundamental theory of marxism and social actuality of contemporary China, that is thefoundation for filial education in middle schoolPart III deals with the approaches and methods of filial education in middle school, which discusses the filial problems and specific feasible solutions for middle school students based on the student physical and psychological development. The author of the thesis puts forward five basic approaches, that is, classroom lectures, extracurricular activities, students self awareness promoted with the help of the school, family education and the society education, and ten other methods to conduct filial education in middle school.The thesis concludes that filial education for middle school students, in addition to moral education in school, also needs strong cooperation from the school, families and the society to achieve more. In the current context of poor awareness in parents and inadequate participation of the society, challenges await moral education confined only to school, especially the filial education for middle school students.
