A Case Study On The Role Of Parents In Parent-child Play

Game is the most favorite activity of children as a potential human nature expression, because it adapts the physical and mental development of children and meets the need for the growth of children, thus becoming an important life way of children. For children, the game is not only a part of life but also an educational way. Parent-child play as a special game appears firstly after the children born, which is on the basis of a parent-child emotion between parents and child, and it as the foundation promotes the development of other form games for children. Since the 1980s, parent-child play becomes an important issue in the world, and causes widespread concern of researchers both at home and abroad more and more.This study bases on the research results of parent-child play both at home and abroad, two families A and B of Zhengzhou City in Henan Province were selected for the research in the form of case studies, the role of parents in parent-child play was studied at the real family background by using qualitative research methods. On the basis of eight descriptions of parents behaviour in parent-child play such as question, watching, description, response, suggestion, modeling, instruction and so on, the role of parents in parent-child play was divided into four types as following, safety inspector type, deputy type, partner type and command type. At the same time, the relevant factors of impact on the role of parents were analyzed in detail by interviews; on the basis of in-depth research on the project, the following suggestions are proposed: Has a correct understanding of value of parents in filial play, parents should provide a game space full of freedom for children; Establishes a democracy and equal parent-child relationship, creates a harmonious and mated filial play atmosphere; Plays the supportive effect of environment system, enhances the connection and cooperation between different homes; which would be better benefit for family parent-child play games, also can provide a theoretical basis for the better growth of children in the study of the role of in parent-child play.
