The US's quality accreditation system of higher education has a long history, and its theoretical and practical research level is very high. Under the government and the market dual criterions, it has already developed much more mature and made tremendous contribution to assurance and improve American higher education quality. America has assured the higher education quality mainly through accreditation. Accreditation is a kind of folk behavior. It is divides into regional institutional accreditation, national institutional accreditation and specialized accreditation, which implements separately by the different type folk organizations. In addition, it also has a folk organization-Council for Higher Education Accreditation, which is responsible for the accreditation organization. The folk organization of higher education accreditation system in America has the characteristics of independence, autonomy, variety, etc. It has played an important role to the higher education quality, which could not be substituted. At present, our country's intermediary institution of higher education evaluation exists a series of problems, such as excessively administration anaclisis, insufficient authority, and so on. From using the US's experience for reference, it will have the great significance without doubt to advance our country's intermediary institution of higher education evaluation.The paper has selected the folk organization of higher education quality accreditation system in America as the object of study, and has thoroughly analyzed folk organization's work way, characteristics and influence to the American higher education. The paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter elaborates the reason of the research, and analyses the present research situation at home and abroad, and points out the overall frame and thought in this paper; The second chapter introduces the type of the American higher education accreditation, and selects a representative folk organization(Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, Council for Higher Education Accreditation) in each kind of type (institutional accreditation, specialized accreditation and re-evaluation) to analyzes its organizational structure, accreditation standards and the accreditation procedure; The third chapter analyzes the folk organization's characteristics and the existing main questions; The fourth chapter discusses the American folk organization's important roles that has played in higher education accreditation of America; The fifth chapter has introduced the development situation of our country's intermediary institution of higher education evaluation, and analyzed the existing main problems, and finally proposed the ponder and the suggestion to our country's intermediary institution of higher education evaluation from US's experience.
