The Tang Dynasty is a special period in the enlightening education development history in the ancient China; it had a critical effect on the development of enlightening education of China. Enlightening education in the Tang Dynasty greatly improved the social politics, economy and culture development, and its flourishing enlightening education theories serve as a reference of the reform and development of nowadays enlightening education. The present article researched the education thought of enlightening education in the Tang Dynasty; tries to find out its illumination to current pupil instruction by canalizing its historical background,basis survey and main characteristics.This article has five sections:Section 1: Foreword. The theoretical significance and practical significance of this article are stated in this section, it also evaluated the existing researches on enlightening education and the insufficiencies, the related terms are also defined.Section 2: Summarize of enlightening education thought in the Tang Dynasty. The Tang enlightening education thought were briefly analyzed from the points of education target,education contents,education principles and instruction methods. It found that the Tang enlightening education emphasized the enlightening of knowledge,skills and morality with the aim of. Its instructions included literacy and reading,etiquette and morality, Confucianism classical works,history,poems and articles. During the instruction, they followed the principles of step-by-step, individuating, acclimatize the pupils' temperament and ability, inspire their interest and join the fun, adopt the methods of group literacy, reading combined with writing, imitation exercise, and learning from worked examples etc.Section 3: This article analyzed the soil of the Tang enlightening education thought, we deem that the tradition of enlightening and education is the cultural base of the Tang enlightening education instruction thought; the social economy development was the material base of the Tang enlightening education thought; the reform and maturity of politics served as the premise of the development of enlightening education thought in the Tang Dynasty; the free cultural environment was the deep driving of Tang enlightening education thought. The dominators' concern on the education is the direct reason of the maturation of Tang enlightening education thought.Section 4: The chief characteristics of Tang enlightening education thought were summarized. The present article listed the main 5 characters of enlightening education in the Tang dynasty. 1. Various content and flexible formats. 2. Guided by the value of utility. 3. Respected the rules and feathers of pupil physic and psychology development. 4. The ethical tendency was strengthened. 5. The effect from imperial examination system was significant.Section 5: The effect of enlightening education thought in the Tang Dynasty and its irradiation to current child instruction was stated. In this section, the influence and acceleration of Tang enlightening education thought to the child education development of Tang and subsequent was summarized. Connection with practice, it inspiration and reference to current child education in China was stated.
